Bonspiel Recaps: The Rocky Top and the Beachspiel

Traditionally, May through September - give or take a month - is the curling off-season. Most curling clubs that have their own building pack everything up this time of year and close shop until the Fall. However, for those curling clubs who rent hockey ice - that's us, for the time being - our ice is is available all year long! In spite of the weather, that makes the summer the perfect time for arena clubs to host a "bonspiel". (For those new to the sport, "bonspiel" is a fancy word that we curlers made up to mean "curling tournament". Between 25 and 50% of our club membership travels to one or more out-of-town bonspiels each year.)

Canada Day Curling and Skating Sunday June 30 4:30

06/30/2013 4:30 pm
The Canadian Expat Network and Cansouth are celebrating Canada day by having a day of curling and skating at The Polar Ice House. It begins at 4:30 with food and curling setup. We will give a real quick curling demo and play for 1 hour and then there will be skating. The curling and skating are free as the Canadian Consulate is paying for the ice but it costs $5.00 for the food. Everyone and their family are welcome, you don't have to be Canadian, in case you don't know, the secret phrase is "How's it going.. Eh?" which the reply is "Not bad..eh!" Please sign up on facebook here https://www.facebook.com/events/596340963732972/ or email cansouthpresident@gmail.com. For us this is a chance to talk up Curling and the new facility. Come on out and have a good time you'll be glad you did.

Curling: Your (Kids') Best Chance to Be an Olympian

Hello! Welcome to the new Triangle Curling Club blog. About once a week, we'll be blogging about our club, our quest to build our own dedicated curling facility, and curling in general. When I say "new blog", really, we mean that our website will start to have more regular content and postings, and that it will tend to be more blog-like in nature. Enjoy!

Also, we promise that our blog posts are not just going to be thinly veiled attempts at fundraising. cough cough donate cough cough ... Wait, what was that?
