The Triangle Curling club held its annual member appreciation Bar-B-Q and Annual General meeting on Saturday May 5. There was a great turnout of about 35 members and for the most part the weather cooperated as the storms did not hit until after the food was eaten and the games over. The meeting featured reports from all the committees and the President who gave a report of the past several years showing how much we had progressed. Elections were held for 4 open board slots but as there were only 4 nominations all were voted in by acclimation. Your new board members are Andrew Foulger, Amy Hobbie, Steve Janosko and Lance Wright, congratulations to all. The club normally hands out two awards, the Spirit award, given to a new member who has most demonstrated the spirit of curling, was given to Mike Norris who, in his first year, came out to help at lean to curls, the St. Patrick’s day Parade and started the wave of loud “Curling Pants”. The second award is the Volunteer of the Year award and this was given to Andrew Foulger who ran the New Year’s Day ‘spiel and assisted with food at the Arena Championships and Classic. The president thanked the outgoing board of Sue Mitchell, Nick Witcraft, Chris Allen and Dan Scheck. Many thanks to Dave and Pam Hamilton for allowing us to use their home and for all the wonderful food (also thanks to all the members who brought food).
